  Fire Rated Recessed Light Covers: 1 and 2 hour UL fire tested and approved fire protection for in-ceiling recessed lights.

Draft Stop Cover: Fire resistant enclosures that were specifically designed to protect recessed light fixtures from insulation in the attic and to stop unwanted airleakage through the light can.

Pipe Fire Sleeves: Provide 2 hour fire protection for plastic pipes and ducts.

Ventilated Cavity Fire Barrier: Provides up to 2 hours fire protection whilst allowing full cavity air ventilation.

TENMAT RAISES THE BAR FOR FIRE PROTECTION OF 2012 OLYMPIC GAMES

A mixture of very tight specification and competitive edge helped TENMAT to win both the fire protection contracts for all plastic pipe work and the ventilation ductwork across the athletes village.

Tight specification

The high profile nature of the Olympic fire protection contracts meant that this was always going to be a project which was won on technical merit.

Several fire tests with exactly the same wall constructions as used in the athletes village were arranged to demonstrate that the TENMAT pipe and duct sleeveproducts would outperform other more traditional products in the same applications.

Testing was also undertaken for ductwork subjected to the latest European standards which is significantly more onerous than the British standard due to the requirement of the ducts to be open into the test furnace, again the TENMAT products reigned supreme.

Competitive edge

It was found that each TENMAT pipe or vent duct sleeve replaced two standard collar type products, as the TENMAT sleeves protect both sides of the wall with just one sleeve, and therefore the overall materials costs were found to be highly competitive.

The speed and ease of installing the TENMAT sleeves also met with enthusiasm from the installers which helped to both meet tight budget and completion targets.

Passive Fire Protection

With the introduction of the FF109X, Delaware-based Tenmat now offers the only two hour cUL classified fire barrier for recessed light fixtures on the market.

Tenmat Fire Rated Light Covers can be used with a broad range of recessed light models from various manufacturers and are suitable for new construction as well as remodel projects.

The new two hour rated enclosure is approved for every major ceiling assembly including gypsum, sheetrock, drywall, acoustical tiles and suspended ceilings with any joist spacing up to 24 inch on center.

In the past electricians and contractors struggled to comply with the stringent requirements of the building code when installing recessed light fixtures in fire rated ceilings and were limited to a small selection of costly fire rated cans.

Tenmat developed the FF109X not only to save money and time for builders and contractors, but also to meet the high safety standards of Building Inspectors.

The Tenmat FF109X Fire Rated Light Cover has been tested and approved by Underwriter Laboratories (UL); the most trusted and accredited testing facility in the United States and Canada. Therefore, the FF109X satisfies the stringent requirements of the International Building Code, as well as the Uniform Building Code.

The FF109X is made out of an intumescent material which will be activated in the event of a fire, stopping both, flame spread and heat transmission for two hours.

In addition to its fire protection capabilities, the FF109X also exhibits excellent thermal and acoustical insulating properties to save energy and reduce noise.

Current customers value the product’s easy way of installation and the resulting cost savings. The covers come ready-to-use and do not require any assembly. All covers can be fitted with little or no skills and without special tools.

Once in place the covers do not require any additional maintenance and are unaffected by moisture.
